Job summary

WSP USA offers hundreds of internships nationwide to provide hands-on experience while you study. The Federal Programs Structures Team seeks a Full-Time Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Denver, CO, with locations including Seattle, Tacoma, San Diego, Portland, and Virginia Beach.

This 12-week program starts May 17, 2027, and targets undergrad or grad students. The role focuses on buildings structural engineering, with no relocation assistance provided.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Structural or Civil Engineering program in the United States with an anticipated graduation date of January 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in structural engineering and desire to advance skills at WSP.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of structural engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Note: there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
