Job summary
Burns & McDonnell in Chicago seeks an experienced Structural Engineer to join the downtown office. You will work on power generation and industrial projects, guiding structural design from concept to completion and coordinating with project teams.
The role requires ABET-accredited degree, FE/3 years experience (or advanced degree with fewer years), and strong CAD/analysis tool proficiency. PE or EIT preferred, with 25% travel and full-time schedule.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program with 3 years of structural engineering experience.
- FE exam completed with 3 years of experience, or Master’s in Structural Engineering with 2 years of experience.
- EIT certification preferred; PE license encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects.
- Design structural components per project needs and manager guidance.
- Apply knowledge of standard engineering practices and codes.
- Support field inspections and data collection as required.
- Update CAD drawings and verify corrections in CAD software.
- Prepare information for client presentations and contract administration.
