Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Structural Engineer II in Duluth, MN to join our Facilities Engineering group. This mid-level role handles project engineering tasks with independent decision-making and applies established structural techniques to design challenges.

The candidate will plan, revise drawings, calculations, and specifications, ensure codes compliance, and may lead design efforts on projects, coordinating with clients and team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 2+ years' experience as a structural engineer.
• EIT required, or ability to obtain in 6 months.
• Proven track record of successful project completion.
• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, RISA 3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam REVU (preferred).
• Understanding of design codes including ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards.
• Layout and detail projects under supervision of the Engineer of Record.
• Provide CAD drawings or sketches for inclusion in drawings by Designers/Drafters.
• Research design options and document findings for Engineer of Record.
• Lead projects and direct other engineers as needed.
• Work with Designers/Drafters to create project drawings.
• Attend and participate in client meetings.
• Perform field observations and measurements.
• Coordinate technical documents and project engineering effort.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited)

EIT certification or ability to obtain in 6 months
