Job summary

Stantec, with a primary location in New Haven, CT, seeks a highly capable Structural Engineer to join its Bridges and Structures team. The role offers opportunities to contribute to large projects across North America in a dynamic environment.

You will design and inspect bridges, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with clients while ensuring compliance with CT standards. Office-based with potential field work, this role requires a Connecticut PE and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering; graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the structural design and analysis of bridges.
• Professional Engineer license in Connecticut is required; office with some field work may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design and preparation of contract documents for new bridges and rehabilitation of existing bridges
• Perform load rating analysis of existing bridges
• Perform design calculations, drawings, and details for various bridge design projects
• Mentor and monitor junior structural engineers
• Review shop drawings and calculations, coordinate with design team, and conduct site visits to verify conditions
• Assist with project management including budget tracking, staffing, quality reviews, and health, safety, environment compliance
• Coordinate with clients to deliver on time and on budget
