Job summary

Markon is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory’s Facility Design organization at the Knolls site. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to define scope, develop design docs, and support construction-phase engineering, coordinating with facility personnel, contractors, and architectural engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering.
• Experience performing structural engineering tasks.
• Experience developing contract documents, engineering calculations, and cost estimates.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
• Active DOE L clearance or DoD Secret or above.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Working knowledge of New York State Building Codes.

Responsibilities

• Work within a project team environment to support construction projects at the Knolls site.
• Collaborate with project sponsors to develop and define project scope.
• Work with multidisciplinary project teams to develop project specifications.
• Develop and support project cost estimates.
• Perform engineering reviews of project drawings and design documentation.
• Provide structural engineering support throughout the construction phase of building and utility projects.
• Oversee architectural and engineering firms in the development of project concept designs.
• Oversee the development and review of construction documents and associated cost estimates.
• Develop and review structural engineering calculations and contract documents.
• Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews and RFIs.
• Support construction inspections and resolution of engineering issues encountered during construction.
• Apply applicable building codes and engineering standards to structural design and construction activities.
• Coordinate and interact with facility staff and contractors throughout project execution.

This position will work within a multidisciplinary project team supporting building and utility construction projects, from defining project scope and developing design documentation through construction-phase engineering and coordination with facility personnel, contractors, and architectural engineering firms.

NOTE: This position requires regular onsite work at the Knolls location and may be performed remotely up to 20% of the time.
