Markon Solutions in Niskayuna, NY is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Facility Design organization at the Knolls site. This role involves defining project scope and developing design documentation through construction-phase engineering, with coordination among facility personnel, contractors, and architectural firms.

The position requires regular onsite work at the Knolls location and may be performed remotely up to 20% of the time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering required.
• Experience performing structural engineering tasks.
• Experience developing contract documents, calculations, and cost estimates.
• Working knowledge of building codes and standards.
• Experience with construction administration: submittals, RFIs, inspections.

Responsibilities

• Support construction projects at the Knolls site within a multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with sponsors to define project scope and develop specs.
• Develop and support project cost estimates.
• Review drawings and design documentation for structural integrity.
• Provide structural support through construction, including coordination with contractors.
• Oversee firms in concept design and in preparing construction documents.
• Develop and review structural calculations and contract documents.
• Support construction administration, including RFIs and submittals.
• Assist in inspections and issue resolution during construction.
• Apply building codes and standards to design and construction activities.
• Coordinate with facility staff and contractors during project execution.
