Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company is seeking a Structural Designer to join our Kansas-based Structural team. You will perform engineering models, analysis and designs, coordinate drafting, and support calculations/documentation for state and local transportation projects. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!

The role offers opportunities for growth, field inspections, and collaboration with project managers and technical staff across multiple offices, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline required.
• E.I.T (or desire to obtain P.E. in the future) preferred.
• Knowledgeable in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products.
• Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects.
• Willingness to be adaptable to office and field inspection tasks; travel to project sites may be required.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Detailed and organized individual who thrives in deadline-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Collect and assimilate data and perform modeling, analysis and/or design calculations of project elements.
• Draw design details under direction of Project Managers.
• Compute quantities and demonstrate awareness of relationships to pay items.
• Organize calculations to be included in design files, following project standards.
• Coordinate drafting of an element.
• Perform field or site visits as needed.
• Develop knowledge of applicable codes and standards and use of applicable CADD and Microsoft software.
