Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks an experienced Nurse Leader to oversee the Stroke Program's development and day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with governing and certifying agencies. You will partner with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary teams to develop protocols, policies, order sets, and educational materials that define evidence-based care for stroke patients.

Minimum BSN, RN license, NIH Stroke Scale certification within 18 months, and 3 years of healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
• Current RN license in the state of practice or via eNLC.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and day-to-day operations of the Stroke Program.
• Ensure compliance with governing and certifying agencies.
• Develop protocols, policies, and order sets with Medical Director and staff.
• Serve as chair for Stroke program governance committees.
• Conduct rounds and audits for inpatient stroke patients.
• Support discharge planning and follow-up processes.
• Facilitate quality improvement initiatives within the program.
• Coordinate community stroke education and outreach.
• Maintain ongoing staff development for Stroke Program personnel.
• Review stroke data and provide feedback for improvement.
• Collaborate with pre-hospital and community partners.
