Job summary

GW Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Stroke Coordinator to support the Nurse Manager in leading the Stroke Program. This role develops interdisciplinary care strategies, promotes staff competency, and coordinates education and QA activities for stroke patients in a major DC-area hospital.

The position involves direct patient care as needed and active participation in the Stroke Committee to improve outcomes and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with BSN required for leadership in stroke care.
• Experience in stroke program development and coordination preferred.
• Knowledge of data collection and QA processes for clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Supports Nurse Manager in leadership of the Stroke Program and department.
• Develops and coordinates interdisciplinary strategies for stroke care.
• Provides direct patient care as Stroke Coordinator as needed.
• Promotes staff proficiency and regulatory compliance in stroke care.
• Mentors new staff and coordinates quarterly Stroke Committee meetings.
• Manages data related to stroke operations and educational programs.
