Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV seeks a Nurse Manager to oversee the Stroke Program and drive quality, protocol development, and multidisciplinary collaboration. You will lead education, policy creation, and certification preparation with medical staff.

Ideal candidates will have RN licensure in WV, a nursing degree, and NIH Stroke Scale certification within 18 months, plus 3+ years in healthcare administration or stroke care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in state of service or multi-state license via eNLC.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversite for development and day-to-day operations of the Stroke Program, ensuring compliance with governing and certifying agencies.
  • Demonstrates excellence in practice through practitioner, educator, consultant, and leader roles.
  • Develops protocols, policies, order sets, and educational materials with the medical staff to ensure Evidence Based best care for stroke patients.
  • Serves as Chairperson for governing committees and councils related to Stroke programs.
  • Conducts rounds and/or audits on inpatient stroke patients.
  • Oversees discharge process and follow-up for stroke patients and staff.
  • Coordinates site certification visits with the Quality Department and ensures compliance with certification regulations.
  • Collaborates with physician champions to manage staff development for Stroke Program.
  • Reviews stroke data and provides feedback for improvement.
  • Coordinates community stroke education through lectures and presentations.
  • Maintain a minimum of 8 CEs related to stroke as outlined by the Stroke Program.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification required within 18 months of hire
  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare related field
Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Related national certification (for example SCRN, CNRN, NVRN-BC or ASC-BC)

  • Demonstrates excellence in practice through full role functions, including practitioner, educator, consultant, and leader.
  • Works in conjunction with the medical director of the Stroke Program and medical staff to develop protocols, policies, order sets, educational materials, and define the Evidence Based best care of the Stroke patient.
  • Serves as the Chairperson for governing committees and councils associated with the Stroke programs.
  • Conducts rounds and/or audits on all inpatient stroke patients.
  • Provides oversight and support for the stroke patients and staff for the discharge process and follow up.
  • Facilitates quality Improvement processes within the Stroke Program.
  • Serves as a liaison for the hospital, pre-hospital providers, and community agencies.
  • In conjunction with the Quality Department, coordinates all on site certification visits and follows all required certification regulations set by the respective certifying organizations.
  • Collaborates closely with the identified physician champions for program and manages all staff development as needed and related to the Stroke Program development.
  • Reviews stroke data from Quality and provides feedback on areas of improvement.
  • Coordinates community stroke education through lectures and presentations.
  • Maintain a minimum of 8 CEs related to stroke as outline by the Stroke Program.
