Job summary

The Town of Holly Springs is seeking a Public Works Streets Technician I/II to support the Public Works department in installing, constructing, repairing and maintaining streets, sidewalks, curbs and stormwater infrastructure.

The role requires ability to work evenings or weekends during adverse weather or emergencies, and offers a comprehensive benefits package with health care, retirement and paid leave.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in public works or construction work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with proper set up of work site traffic control; helps ensure safe control and direction of traffic.
• Assists with street sign replacement and installation.
• Repairs and paints guard rails, reflectors, and right-of-way markers; paints parking lots and parking lines.
• Trims trees, cuts grass, and removes debris along the side of the assigned locations; aerates and seeds; sprays pesticides along guard rails.
• Assists with placement and removal of holiday and event decorations, banners, etc.
• Clears storm drains and maintains stormwater conveyance infrastructure.
• Applies rock salt/salt brine and performs snow and ice removal from Town streets and sidewalks; snow plowing.
• Installs new and refurbishes street markings and stop bars; installs, maintains and repairs guardrails.
• Operates and uses hand tools and operates equipment to dig holes and replace clean areas for paving.
• Operates a variety of construction equipment such as tractor trailer combinations, dump trucks, snow plows, rock salt/salt brine delivery combinations, backhoes, excavators, motor graders, compact and front end loaders, asphalt rollers, street sweepers and other related light and medium equipment used in the work.
