Job summary

The Town of Huntersville is seeking an entry‑level maintenance helper to assist in street and stormwater upkeep. Duties include constructing and repairing pavement, sidewalks, and curbs, and cleaning ditches.

You will work under the Public Works Crew Leader, using hand and power tools, operating equipment, and participating in winter weather operations. A high school diploma or GED is required along with basic landscaping or construction experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of hand and power tools and safe operation.
• Experience with equipment used in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, in varying weather.
• Ability to establish good working relationships with teammates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining streets, sidewalks, and stormwater infrastructure.
• Operate hand tools and medium/heavy equipment as needed.
• Participate in winter weather operations including salt spreading and snow removal.
• Inspect and maintain equipment and tools.
• Assist with traffic control and signage installation.
