Job summary

The City of Renton is seeking dedicated individuals for the Streets section as Maintenance Services Workers 2. You’ll support maintenance of streets and public infrastructure, performing grounds work, traffic control and light vehicle operation.

The role blends independent work with team collaboration to support city priorities. Applicants must have one year of construction maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and six-month certificates in flagging, first aid/CPR and forklift.

Qualifications

• One year construction maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Certificates required within six (6) months: Flagging, First aid and CPR, Forklift card.
• Background and driving record checks required.
• CDL positions are safety sensitive; drug and alcohol screening may apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance duties including mowing, edging, weeding, planting, and pruning, and apply chemicals to control pests.
• Remove litter and debris from roadways and facilities; assist in job-site cleanup.
• Assist in excavation and rechanneling of ditches; load/unload materials.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment on vehicles; operate varied equipment and hand tools.
• Input data for work orders, time records and materials use; respond to customer questions and maintain public relations.
• Perform traffic control duties in high traffic conditions; drive commercial vehicles as assigned.
