Job summary

City of Columbia SC is seeking a responsible team member to fabricate, install and maintain street signs and pavement markings. You will follow procedures under supervision, handling tools and equipment including forklifts and paint gear.

The job involves lifting and physical tasks, safety duties, and working with various departments to support city streets infrastructure. A valid SC Class A license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of relevant prior experience is required.
• Valid South Carolina Class "A" Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains City street signs and other signs as required by City departments.
• Measures and determines placement of pavement markings; operates paint equipment to apply traffic markings to pavement.
• Removes graffiti on streets, sidewalks, bridges, etc.
• Assists in ensuring the safety of crew members at work sites; sets up safety devices and flags traffic as needed.
• Maintains assigned vehicles, tools and equipment.
• Operates a fork lift, vehicles, shop equipment and various hand and power tools as necessary to complete daily tasks.
• Provides instruction and leadership of crew members as assigned.
• Attends meetings, workshops, training, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
