Job summary

The City of Topeka's Street division is looking for a Street Maintenance Worker Trainee to perform manual labor on street surfaces, curbs and gutters, and snow/ice control. This entry-level role includes an excellent field training program to help you gain the skills for advancement.

Trainees will receive training on company-paid time to obtain a Class A CDL by the end of the six-month probation. Training, study time, and equipment are provided.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Kansas driver’s license and city insurable driving record.
• Must be 18 years of age at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor in the maintenance of street surfaces, curbs and gutters, and snow and ice control.
• Operate snow and ice removal equipment and other related machinery as needed.
• Assist in asphalt patching, crack sealing, concrete placement, rock spreading, and transporting construction materials.
