Job summary

The City of Topeka’s Utilities department is seeking entry-level Water Distribution Technicians to support the water distribution system and treatment facilities. The role involves significant physical labor and working in inclement weather, including rain, snow, and muddy conditions, with duties in maintenance and repair.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must hold a valid Class C Kansas driver’s license with insurable driving record.
• CDL required within six months of hire.
• Forklift Certification within one year of hire.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within one year of hire.
• Experience in construction/maintenance/repair of water facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, repair and manage water distribution system and water treatment facilities.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints.
• Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment as needed.
