Job summary

City of Acworth is seeking an Equipment Operator to support street construction and maintenance projects. This role operates a range of city-owned equipment, loads and transports gear to active worksites, and participates in the upkeep of streets, bridges, and drainage systems.

You will install and repair street signs, respond to after-hours emergencies, clear trees and debris after storms, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections and preventative maintenance, contributing to safe, well‑maintained

Qualifications

Specialized training in the field with high school education.
1–2 years of related work experience or apprenticeship.
Ability to obtain a Georgia commercial driver's license for the vehicle operated.

Responsibilities

Operates equipment in maintenance and repair of city streets, bridges, rights-of-way, sidewalks, and drainage.
Loads/unloads equipment and transports to work sites.
Installs and repairs street signs.
Responds to after-hours emergencies.
Clears trees and debris after storms.
Performs public works maintenance and construction activities.
Flags traffic at work sites.
Performs pre- and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
Performs related duties.
