Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking an Equipment Operator I to operate a range of heavy equipment and commercial vehicles in support of street, drainage, and utility projects. You will perform excavation, grading, paving, and drainage maintenance while ensuring safety and compliance with city policies.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, equipment operation in challenging environments, and assisting with training new staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
• Valid Class B CDL with good driving record.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Assist with excavation, grading, paving, and drainage maintenance.
• Load, transport, and secure equipment using trailers and tie-downs.
• Establish safe work zones and direct traffic as needed.
• Support emergency response operations and routine maintenance.
