Strategy and Business Development Senior Manager

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an opening for a Strategy and Business Development Senior Manager in the Seaborne Platform Systems (SPS) segment of the Undersea Mission Solutions (UMS) business. This role focuses on submarine and platform integration supporting US Navy maritime and Subsea Seabed Warfare missions. The position is based in Greensboro, NC or Pittsfield, MA.

The SBDSM will lead strategy formulation and business development activities for UMS initiatives, including cultivating U.S. Government and international customers, leading capture teams, managing investment funds, and developing strategic plans. Reporting to the UMS Strategy and Business Development Director, the role involves supporting the Business Area Segment Director and collaborating with other MSS Undersea business teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute business strategies to grow market share in undersea systems.
  • Engage with customers and industry partners, leveraging GD capabilities.
  • Preferably have knowledge in Subsea and Seabed Warfare, submarine platforms, mission packages, undersea command and control, and sensor networks.
  • Demonstrate leadership, communication skills, and the ability to understand and apply advanced technologies.
  • Work independently and in teams, fostering a high-morale, engaged, and collaborative work environment.
  • Build long-term customer and colleague relationships based on trust and delivery.
  • Experience in business development, program management, systems engineering, and government contracting is desired.
Preferred Experience:
  • Current industry experience or operational knowledge with the US Navy submarine community, including relevant Navy offices and research centers.
  • Business acumen and familiarity with DoD acquisition processes.
  • Technical background to vet technical solutions effectively.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Advise leadership on growth strategies and resource management.
  • Lead capture efforts for DoD undersea warfare opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Develop strategic plans, forecasts, and marketing strategies.
  • Conduct research on competitors, market trends, and customer needs.
  • Promote innovation and industry-leading solutions.
  • Participate in trade shows and promotional activities.
  • Foster a team-oriented culture and achieve business goals.
  • Travel 30-40%, domestically and internationally.

The position can be home-based in Chantilly, VA, Greensboro, NC, or Pittsfield, MA.

Education & Clearance:

Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years. Department of Defense Secret clearance preferred; Top Secret or TS/SCI is a plus. U.S. citizenship required due to security requirements.
