Job summary

City of Portsmouth is seeking a workforce development professional to develop, coordinate, and implement programs promoting education and training resources for residents. The role reports to the Director of Economic Development and works with community partners to connect jobseekers to opportunities.

Responsibilities include delivering career preparation classes, coordinating events and services, and maintaining records of participants and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development or related field.
• 2-3 years of professional experience in workforce development, employment services, or human services.
• Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements new programs to assist jobseekers and coordinates existing programs.
• Facilitates career preparation and development classes and prepares employment documents.
• Conducts workshops, hiring events, job searches, and wraparound services.
• Maintains a database of employers and current job openings for Portsmouth@Work.
