Job summary

Urban Strategies, Inc. is seeking an Education Specialist to develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs that foster lifelong learning and career readiness in Norfolk, VA.

You will collaborate with students, families, educators, and partners to address educational needs and promote growth. The role involves coordinating community-based supports, promoting access to essential services, and delivering data-informed program improvements, with occasional travel and evening/weekend

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
• 3 years of project management experience, incl. contracts or grants.
• Strong verbal and written communication; cross-disciplinary teamwork.
• Proficiency in MS Office; SPSS is a plus.
• Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Support students in educational and workforce transitions.
• Engage and assist parents and families.
• Coordinate community-based support for students.
• Ensure access to social, health, nutrition and mental health services.
• Compile and analyze research data for decisions and reports.
• Troubleshoot education-related issues and align services.
• Assist families with school choice and LEARN data integrity.
• Participate in national education webinars and training.
• Foster partnerships and track leverage with partners.
• Develop and update an Educational Resource Portfolio.
• Provide resources for capital access and wealth-building.
• Offer consultation services in financial management.
• Host seminars for financial literacy and capital access.
• Support and promote development of USI client base.
