Job summary

ShipBob is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the finance team focused on transportation initiatives and forecasting. You will build forecasts, perform variance analysis, and prepare board materials to support profitable growth. The role partners with FP&A to enhance ship-margin reporting and drive strategic projects.

The position reports to the FP&A Manager and requires strong modeling, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a hybrid work schedule in Chicago.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance or related field.
• 3PL or relevant experience in Transportation required.
• 3-5 years of FP&A or another related field.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Chicago office.
• Excellent financial modeling skills and understanding of financial statements.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to various stakeholders.
• High comfort level with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of NetSuite, Smartview, SQL, PowerBI, and Power Query preferred.
• Enjoy nurturing business partnerships with senior management and teams.
• Proactive self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Complete thorough analysis on transportation initiatives each month and communicate key performance drivers and variances to plan to senior management.
• Collaborate with partners to strategize and report on weekly performance, especially related to Transportation.
• Manage relationships with Transportation team to build bottoms up forecasts and identify risks and opportunities.
• Support development and implementation of models and processes for new strategic transportation initiatives.
• Prepare the annual operating plan with Transportation to build plans and targets for the budget.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting presentations for investors and the board.
• Provide insights on operational metrics, margin analysis, and communicate findings to partners.
• Develop and improve models and procedures using professional knowledge and business acumen.
• Automate and improve existing files and processes; find feasible workarounds.
• Collaborate with management to drive key strategic initiatives.
