Job summary

Saft is seeking a Technical Buyer to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for engineered materials and services across manufacturing and development. You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Suppliers to ensure supply continuity, quality, and cost competitiveness while supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement.

This role requires a strong technical background with 5+ years in technical procurement in a manufacturing environment and experience with

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management, or related technical discipline.
MBA, SCM, Engineering Management or related field is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in technical procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, or engineering-related purchasing in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for technical commodities, engineered products, raw materials, capital equipment, and specialized services.
Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers meeting technical, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
Lead supplier selection through competitive bidding, market analysis, and supplier capability assessments.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and total cost of ownership.
Monitor market trends, supplier risks, and capacity constraints affecting material availability and pricing.
Partner with Design/Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to support NPI and lifecycle management.
Interpret engineering drawings and BOMs; support ECOs and revisions.
