Job summary

Saft, a global battery leader, seeks a Technical Buyer to manage strategic sourcing, supplier relations, and procurement of engineered materials and services for a high-tech manufacturing environment. You will drive cost reductions, support new product introductions, and ensure supply continuity across engineering and production teams.

The role requires a strong technical background, 5+ years in technical procurement, and experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management, or related technical discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in technical procurement/strategic sourcing within manufacturing.
Experience sourcing engineered products and complex components.
Experience supporting new product introductions and engineering-driven procurement.
Proven supplier development, cost reduction, contract negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for technical commodities, engineered products, raw materials, capital equipment, and specialized services.
Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers meeting technical, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
Lead supplier selection through competitive bidding, market analysis, and capability assessments.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, long-term agreements, lead times, and payment terms to achieve best total cost of ownership.
Monitor market trends, supplier risks, capacity, and technologies impacting material availability and pricing.
Ensure uninterrupted material flow to support production schedules and customer commitments.
Partner with Design/Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to support product development and lifecycle management.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs; support ECOs and product revisions.
