Job summary

Oilgear is seeking a Senior Technical Buyer to lead procurement for high-performance hydraulic systems. You will read blueprints, manage BOM accuracy, and drive supplier performance across engineering, production, and planning.

The role emphasizes cost savings, alternate sourcing, and active supplier relationships to strengthen the supply base. You will use Epicor ERP to support material availability, lead times, and compliance objectives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience, with manufacturing or engineered-to-order exposure; 7+ years preferred.
• Experience in hydraulics/industrial equipment or manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers on price, terms, and delivery.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret quotations, lead times, and total cost of ownership.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor strongly preferred).
• Reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic liaison between internal departments and suppliers.
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders and RFQs to ensure competitive pricing and lead times.
• Track inventory levels and optimize stock while minimizing excess and shortages.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and long-term supplier agreements.
• Source and evaluate vendors, including supplier audits and qualification processes.
• Maintain supplier pipeline and report on sourcing opportunities and risk mitigation.
• Communicate material availability and supplier updates to production teams.
• Provide mentoring to junior buyers when needed.
