American Battery Solutions Inc. is seeking a Temporary Supplier Development Engineer in Lake Orion, MI.

This hands-on role focuses on supplier selection, evaluation, and management of components, ensuring quality, traceability, and cost competitiveness across the supply base. The candidate will develop supplier systems, validate capabilities against TS 16949/ISO requirements, drive lean improvements, lead APQP/PPAP activities, and collaborate with engineering and procurement to deliver reliable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (required).
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing a certified quality management system (e.g., TS 16949, ISO).
• Minimum of four (4) years of proven track record driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
• Exceptional mechanical or electrical aptitude with an intuitive understanding of mechanical processes.
• Experience in automotive industry; Battery, Electronics, or Powertrain manufacturing preferred.
• Experience in an organization that supplied large OEMs.
• Customer quality assurance experience.

Responsibilities

• Interface with component teams to prioritize supplier development needs by component to improve cost competitiveness or supply constraints.
• Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes.
• Assess supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and delivery requirements including TS 16949, ISO standards.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, supplier scorecards, and APQP/PPAP processes.
• Track supplier performance indicators and publish scorecards; develop base for meeting/exceeding defined expectations.
• Provide leadership to communicate and coach across Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Procurement to drive cost-effective improvements.
• Lead investigations and root-cause analyses to resolve supplier-related problems and prevent recurrence.
• Maintain supplier database with performance evaluations and quality audits for internal access.
