Job summary

American Battery Solutions Inc. (ABS) is seeking a Senior Supplier Development Engineer focused on supplier selection, evaluation and management of components development.

You will ensure the Supplier Development Management System supports high-quality components and compliance with customer needs, driving root-cause analysis when non-conformances occur and collaborating with suppliers to improve cost competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience managing a certified quality management system (e.g. TS 16949, ISO).
• 4+ years driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the automotive industry; Battery, Electronics, or Powertrain manufacturing preferred.
• Exceptional mechanical or electrical aptitude and understanding.
• Previous audit experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead all reports involving Supplier Performance, Supplier Improvement Plans, and Supplier readiness status.
• Assess new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and fulfillment requirements.
• Drive improvements utilizing Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards and audits.
• Provide technical expertise and leadership in sourcing and development of suppliers.
• Lead investigations of major problems and partner with suppliers for root-cause analysis.
• Lead APQP, supplier validation audits, PPAP, VA/VE support, and supplier cost improvements.
• Train Supplier Development Engineering staff on audit schedules and development tasks.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams to define process parameters for supplier process capability.
• Review engineering/manufacturing specifications to identify materials for product assembly.
• Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with standards.
• Communicate with vendors to foster continual improvement.
