Job summary

Schuff Steel Co. is seeking a Purchasing Agent to manage supplier relationships and strategic sourcing for steel and related materials. The role focuses on mitigating material costs, ensuring timely production, and coordinating with production teams across procurement, inventory, and logistics.

You will leverage ERP/MRP tools to issue and track POs, review BOMs, and maintain strong supplier performance while meeting ASTM specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of purchasing experience in steel fabrication.
• Knowledge of ASTM standards and material certifications.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Experience with supplier performance management and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Procurement and supplier management: sourcing materials and negotiating contracts.
• Inventory control: forecast demand, minimize costs, coordinate with production.
• Logistics and delivery coordination: schedule deliveries, track shipments.
• Purchase order management: create, verify quantities and delivery dates, ensure spec compliance.
• Review BOMs and provide purchasing schedules for each project.
