Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement in Columbia, MD invites a Solution Architect to guide technology decisions, design and manage the solution portfolio, and promote architectural standards across the enterprise.

The role requires strong experience designing complex solutions, integrating systems and APIs, and leading cross‑functional teams while aligning with business goals and security/compliance requirements. Certification in Azure/AWS and related frameworks is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Solutions Architect or in a similar technical leadership role.
• Experience with custom software development, SaaS/PaaS platforms (M365, Salesforce, Workday), and IaaS platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Certification as an Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
• Additional certifications in M365, Salesforce, Workday, or research‑technology platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to understand business drivers and translate them into effective solution designs.
• Lead evaluation and selection of technology platforms and services, designing standard and custom configurations.
• Consult on application development, infrastructure design, and system integrations while promoting patterns and best practices.
• Define and maintain architecture principles, standards, and patterns for governance and technology roadmaps.
