Job summary

WIRTGEN AMERICA, located in Antioch, TN, seeks a Purchasing Planner to coordinate procurement and distribution of materials, parts and supplies for the organization.

Responsibilities include planning order sequences, evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating cost, and ensuring on-time delivery while meeting quality standards. A bachelor’s degree is required; SAP familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
• Familiarity with SAP is a plus.
• Prior parts planning/purchasing experience helpful but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all activities related to purchase of materials, parts, equipment, and commodities beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.
• Plans sequence of ordering and analyzes the requirements of the item, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date item is needed.
• Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested item.
• Investigate and/or interviews with potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
• Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
• Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the item balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
• Prepares Purchase Orders/Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
• Assures that the item is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
• Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records.
• Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute items in a cost-effective manner.
