Job summary

Four State Trucks in Joplin, MO is seeking a Purchasing Clerk to handle vendor negotiations and order placement under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager. You will purchase products for resale and use inventory systems to track usage and quantities needed.

You will negotiate costs with multiple vendors, confirm PO costs, manage backorders, stock levels, and schedule inbound and outbound shipments to regional warehouses, while building solid vendor relationships.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year purchasing experience preferred (retail or warehousing).
• Automotive/Commercial Vehicle parts experience a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Negotiate with vendors and place orders under Purchasing Manager supervision.
• Purchase products for resale and track usage with inventory systems.
• Negotiate best costs for multiple vendors and products.
• Confirm costs on purchase orders and ensure accuracy.
• Track backorders and arrange alternate vendors as needed.
• Maintain stocking levels for assigned vendors and manage stockouts.
• Schedule inbound and outbound shipments to regional warehouses.
• Create purchase orders and follow up on dropship orders.
• Build relationships with vendors for preferred costing, supply and service.
• Generate reports and perform order tracking.
