Job summary

American Electric Power in Tulsa, OK seeks a seasoned Project Manager to lead intermediate to complex projects in a matrix environment. You will guide planning, execution, monitoring, and closure with a focus on safety, cost control, quality, and customer satisfaction.

You’ll mentor others, manage budgets and schedules, coordinate with stakeholders, suppliers and internal teams, and promote continuous improvement while adhering to AEP standards and safety processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to project management with five years of qualified experience; or an Associate’s degree with seven years; or a HS diploma with nine years.
• Two years of experience as a PROJECT MANAGER (Grade 7) or demonstrated equivalent competencies.
• Experience in project management, major construction field experience, project estimating and controls.
• PMP certification is preferred but not required; valid state driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise assigned project activities using Waterfall, Agile methodologies.
• Support and ensure safe work environment aligned with Zero Harm.
• Manage project plans, schedules and budgets, including cost reallocations.
• Communicate project status and prepare written/oral reports for stakeholders.
• Develop relationships with customers, partners, vendors and suppliers; drive customer satisfaction.
• Provide guidance and training to improve design, processes, and costs.
• Mentor other project managers and supervise sub-team PMs as assigned.
• Conduct and supervise project closeouts and evaluate project benefits.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field

Associate’s degree in the same required disciplines
