Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Project Manager (or PM Senior/PM Principal) to lead complex projects within a matrix organization. You will initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects, ensuring safety, quality, and value delivery, while maintaining strong stakeholder communications.

Responsibilities include developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and procurement, guiding teams, and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, PM, CS with required years of experience.
• Experience as PROJECT MANAGER ASSOCIATE (Grade 6) or similar track.
• Knowledge in outage management, project controls, cost estimating, and contracting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate project activities; act when lead PM is unavailable.
• Enforce the AEP System Safety Process with Zero Harm focus.
• Develop, review, and coordinate project plans, schedules, budgets and staff.
• Communicate project status and lead planning meetings with stakeholders.
• Build relationships with internal/external customers, vendors and partners.
• Coach and develop team members in project management skills.
• Manage procurement plans and contracts with outside services.
• Close out projects by analyzing outcomes and benefits.
• Align with AEP standards and project management processes.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field

Two-year Associate’s degree in the same required disciplines with seven (7) years of qualified experience

High School Diploma/GED with seven (7) years qualified experience
