By centralizing efforts, we streamline communication, maximize resources, and ensure consistent, high-quality outreach. Equity is at the core of our mission—centering the voices of historically marginalized communities through integrated Digital Inclusion, Language Access, and ADA programs. We serve as the hub for all engagement initiatives, helping the City connect more effectively with residents and make better, more inclusive decisions.
The Part-Time Strategic Programs & Engagement Analyst is a 30-hour-per-week position with benefits that supports community outreach and resident participation in Durham’s Participatory Budgeting (PB) program. Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
Community engagement is the central focus of this role. The Analyst will build relationships with residents, schools, neighborhood groups, community organizations, and other partners while creating meaningful opportunities for people to participate in PB. The position will focus especially on reaching historically underserved communities and residents who have not traditionally participated in City decision-making.
The Analyst will represent PB at community events, conduct neighborhood outreach, facilitate conversations, support resident volunteers, and help residents understand how they can submit ideas, develop proposals, and vote. The position will also support the PB Steering Committee, program communications, participation tracking, and other activities throughout the PB cycle.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, dependable, organized, and comfortable working directly with residents from diverse backgrounds. The position requires some evening and weekend availability to attend community meetings and events.
