Job summary

The City of Durham is seeking a Part-Time Community Initiatives & Engagement Analyst to support the Participatory Budgeting program. This 30-hour role focuses on outreach, resident participation, and equity-minded engagement across Durham’s neighborhoods.

The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong communication, organization, and project-management skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with a diverse set of community partners and residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, communications, community development, planning, or related field
• Two years of outreach, canvassing, facilitating meetings, or supporting community events
• Valid NC Class C Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Community Outreach and Engagement: Develop and implement outreach strategies to support broad, equitable participation in all PB phases.
• Build trusted relationships with residents, schools, neighborhoods, and community partners.
• Conduct neighborhood outreach, canvassing, tabling, presentations, meetings, and events.
• Facilitate conversations to help residents understand PB, share priorities, and participate in voting.
• Identify and develop new outreach opportunities in historically underserved communities.
• Represent PB at community events, partner meetings, and public presentations.
