Job summary

City of Durham is hiring a Part-Time Strategic Programs & Engagement Analyst to support Participatory Budgeting (PB) outreach and resident participation. The role focuses on engaging historically underserved communities, coordinating with schools and neighborhood groups, and promoting PB at community events.

The position is 30 hours/week, in-person with some limited remote work. Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years of outreach/canvassing/meeting facilitation or community events.
• Valid NC Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement outreach strategies to ensure broad and meaningful PB participation.
• Build relationships with residents, schools, neighborhood groups, and community partners.
• Conduct neighborhood outreach through canvassing, tabling, presentations, and events.
• Facilitate conversations to help residents understand PB, submit ideas, and participate in voting.
• Represent PB at community events and support the PB Steering Committee with communications and tracking.
