Job summary

Opti Staffing Group seeks a Production Planning Manager in Portland, OR to lead the planning team and optimize manufacturing flow. You will translate demand, capacity, and inventory data into actionable production plans and oversee schedulers, expeditors, and document control.

This leadership role requires hands-on planning experience and at least two years managing a planning team. You will drive cross-functional collaboration, develop forecasts, and implement improvements to ensure on-time

Qualifications

• Minimum five years hands-on production planning in manufacturing.
• Proven managerial experience leading a planning/scheduling/expediting team.
• Strong understanding of plant flow from order entry to delivery.
• Experience developing demand forecasts and multi-timeframe plans.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing in low-volume environments.
• Ability to train staff on ERP/MRP systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily planning and coordinate Schedulers, Expeditors, and Document Control.
• Align production plans with forecasts, inventory, and capacity.
• Unify Scheduling, Expediting, Order Entry, and Document Control into one Planning team.
• Set goals, priorities, and accountability standards for the department.
• Provide coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action.
• Lead daily planning huddles to review forecasts and resolve issues.
• Develop rolling demand forecasts across multiple timeframes.
• Create a two-to-three week look-ahead for labor/capacity.
• Review open orders vs material availability and coordinate with Purchasing.
• Monitor WIP, prevent overproduction, and manage customer commitments.
• Improve department workflows and implement process improvements.
• Develop planning tools and analyze performance metrics/budgets.
