Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Morristown, TN is seeking a production planning scheduler to act as the interface between customers and in-house personnel, coordinating the flow of parts through manufacturing and shipping to satisfy delivery requirements.

The role requires communicating customer requirements, coordinating with manufacturing and support teams, and drawing up master schedules to meet forecasts. Strong math, planning, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in production planning, marketing, or business discipline, or equivalent work-related experience
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics

Responsibilities

• Communicates with customers concerning requirements, talks with them regarding other customer service-related concerns, and answers any other questions.Approximately 35% of available time is spent preparing and maintaining customer contacts.
• Acts as liaison between customers and manufacturing and support teams.Communicates customers’ requirements and concerns.Acts as the customer intermediary to ensure that specifications are met and delivery is timely.Engages in these activities about 25% of the time.
• Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
• Use system & customer files to:
• Ensure tooling availability
• Coordinate with toolroom for reworks and coatings
• Meet weekly input quantities
• Meet weekly LOH targets
• Meet weekly revenue targets
• Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
• Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
• Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
• Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
• Stay current with planning yields vs standard yields
• Monitors throughput and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Provides schedule/forecast information to purchasing and Engineering to ensure required materials, tools and equipment are in place.
• Updates information on computer for perpetual inventory system.
• Has custodial support responsibility for the physical inventory
• Provides both short and long term capacity analysis
• Responsible for both near and long term forecasting
• Other duties assigned
