Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. in Sylmar, CA is seeking a Production & Materials Planning Specialist to balance customer demand with plant capacity and ensure smooth material flow.

You will generate production schedules, manage MRP, and coordinate with procurement and quality teams to maintain on-time delivery while minimizing bottlenecks. This onsite role reports to Purchasing and Logistics Manager and includes an annual bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
• 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials control, or scheduling in manufacturing.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Advanced Excel.
• Lean Six Sigma/Kaizen continuous improvement experience.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and resolving non-conformances.

Responsibilities

• Generate, prioritize, and release Work Orders aligned with master production schedules (MPS) and customer demand forecasts.
• Develop detailed production schedules to optimize machine utilization, minimize changeover times, and ensure on-time delivery (OTD).
• Monitor plant capacity and equipment constraints to balance workload and smooth production peaks.
• Run and analyze MRP reports to identify material shortages, buffer stock levels, and replenishment requirements.
• Create, issue, and manage POs for raw materials and components based on schedules and thresholds.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors; follow up on open POs, track shipments, expedite parts, and resolve issues.
• Coordinate and lead MRB activities to disposition non-conforming materials, scrap, rework, or RTV items.
• Manage end-to-end RMA process for customer returns with Quality and Customer Service teams.
• Coordinate material allocations for high-priority products or constrained components.
• Identify bottlenecks and develop mitigation/contingency plans.
• Translate data into insights to support continuous improvement and strategic decisions.
• Leverage Excel, Power Query, and dashboards to track KPIs.
