Job summary

PPG in Sylmar, CA is seeking a Production & Materials Planning Specialist to balance customer demand with plant capacity and ensure seamless material flow. This onsite role reports to the Purchasing and Logistics Manager and focuses on creating efficient master production schedules and material plans.

Responsibilities include releasing work orders, optimizing schedules, managing POs, MRB/RMA processes, and driving continuous improvement using advanced Excel and KPI dashboards.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years in production planning, materials control, or scheduling in manufacturing.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Advanced Excel is mandatory; Lean Six Sigma/Kaizen exp is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Generate, prioritize, and release Work Orders aligned with MPS and demand forecasts.
• Develop detailed production schedules to improve machine utilization and on-time delivery.
• Monitor capacity and constraints to balance workload and prevent bottlenecks.
• Run MRP reports to identify shortages and replenishment needs; manage POs for materials.
• Lead MRB activities and manage end-to-end RMA processes with Quality and Customer Service.
• Coordinate material allocations for high-priority products and constrained components.
• Identify supply bottlenecks early and develop robust mitigation plans.
• Translate data into actionable insights; track KPIs with Excel and dashboards.
