Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan seeks a Senior Process Improvement Consultant to partner with executive teams in designing and implementing strategic operating models and automation initiatives.

The role focuses on identifying inefficiencies, building business cases, and delivering data-driven insights through dashboards and analytics to improve cost, service quality, and regulatory alignment across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field required.
• 1 year of experience in business unit consulting with emphasis on business management, process improvement, automation, and strategic planning preferred.
• Familiar with continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, process FMEA, and five whys.
• Proficient in defining problems, setting objectives and scope for engagements.
• Experience in financial acumen and systems thinking.
• Ability to summarize analyses and draw actionable insights for executives.
• Ability to deliver succinct, insightful presentations to executive leadership.
• Knowledge of project management concepts, tools, and practices.
• Workshop organization, planning, and facilitation skills.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, statistical analysis and related tools.
• Knowledge of BCBSM products, processes, and data structures.

Responsibilities

• Document and improve transactional processes with boundaries, steps, inputs, outputs, and IT systems for leadership discussions.
• Monitor and assess technology developments (robotics, AI, analytics, NLP, lean) for applicability across core processes.
• Analyze processes to identify inefficiencies and gaps in people, process, technology, and management infrastructure.
• Identify root causes of inefficiencies and assist in defining requirements for automation or system enhancements.
• Develop insights from quantitative and qualitative analyses and present action-driven findings to executives.
• Define process cost and KPIs, benchmarks, and voice of customer data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Design dashboards and analytics to provide actionable insights for executives.
• Collaborate with business teams and executives to plan improvements, estimate cost/performance impacts, and lead solution design.
• Support IT and business teams to implement effective, low-cost solutions and build business cases.
