Job summary

Kahana Feld LLP in California seeks a Firmwide Director or Senior Manager of Practice Management to act as strategic advisor to the COO and practice leaders, optimizing staffing and utilization, and supporting matter and financial management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and law degree required; equivalent experience in law firm management may be considered.
• Experience in insurance defense practice areas strongly preferred.
• Experience in law firm management or legal operations is required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, prioritization, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted advisor to the COO, practice leaders, and other firm leaders on practice management, staffing, and resource matters.
• Partner with practice leaders to develop, execute, and monitor practice goals and operational priorities.
• Review matters and consult with practice leaders regarding staffing, team composition, and attorney assignments throughout the lifecycle of a matter.
• Monitor attorney workload, utilization, capacity, and productivity; identify trends and recommend resource adjustments or other interventions.
• Lead the implementation of practice management initiatives, training programs, and process improvements.
• Develop and enhance reporting that enables data-driven decisions regarding practice, matter, staffing, and financial management.
