Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Portfolio Architect for Distribution Field Services and Mobility in Gahanna, OH. This senior role shapes portfolio strategy, aligns business outcomes with technology investments, and ensures architecture coherence across programs.

You’ll drive roadmaps, govern architecture decisions, and guide delivery teams to implement target-state solutions within approved platforms and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of relevant work experience required (equivalents considered).
• Experience across multiple applications, platforms, data domains, integrations, and delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain current-state, target-state, and transition architectures for the portfolio across multiple domains.
• Create and maintain a multi-year portfolio architecture roadmap focusing on modernization, consolidation, migration, and debt reduction.
• Lead Application Portfolio Management using LeanIX to evaluate ownership, alignment, fit, lifecycle, cost, risk, and disposition.
• Identify duplication, fragmentation, obsolescence, unsupported tech, and security risks and propose prioritized remediation.
• Provide architectural input into six-quarter planning, demand intake, capital planning, and investment prioritization with clear tradeoffs.
• Ensure initiatives align with roadmaps, enterprise standards, reference architectures, and security/regulatory requirements.
• Participate in architecture governance and escalate unresolved risks to the Architecture Review Board.
• Mentor solution architects and engineers, translating portfolio direction into implementable architectures.
