Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an engineering design leader to manage a high performing team focused on analyzing service requests, drafting work orders, estimating materials, maintaining distribution maps, and other technical activities.

The role directs the Distribution Design group, ensures customer expectations drive service quality, monitors progress to control costs, and coordinates with other departments to keep maps accurate and up to date.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the design of power system electrical distribution facilities.
• Alternatively, an associate's degree with 7 years of relevant design experience or a high school diploma with 9 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical services direction to establish a high performing engineering design team.
• Ensure the contribution of all employees within the Distribution Design group by maintaining close involvement and listening to ideas and needs.
• Maintain a customer focused attitude by understanding customer expectations and achieving superior customer satisfaction.
• Monitor design, material and work progress to control costs within budget and ensure codes, standards and schedules are met.
• Coordinate with other departments to maintain accurate maps of the distribution system.
• Develop employee skills and knowledge.
• Promote and assure standard compliance.
