Job summary

Socket.dev seeks an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to lead consolidated financial statements, monthly closes, and close coordination with auditors. The role emphasizes GAAP for oil and gas, SEC reporting, and ICOFR controls with strong Excel and leadership expectations.

You will supervise a small team, ensure accurate lease accounting, and provide internal analysis for management. A CPA and 2+ years in oil & gas are preferred, with extensive regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of GAAP with emphasis in oil and gas accounting and ability to apply to complex issues.
• Excellent knowledge of SEC reporting requirements.
• SOX and ICOFR experience.
• Strong financial and business acumen and technical reporting skills.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, V-Lookups).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
• Good time management and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules for public filings and internal reports.
• Review and post monthly journal entries.
• Manage monthly close calendar and checklists.
• Review reconciliations for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Coordinate with internal/external auditors for quarterly/yearly audits.
• Perform accounting research and assist with new standards implementation.
• Oversee activities of Financial Accountants; provide coaching and performance reviews.
• Ensure lease calculations and disclosures are accurate.
• Monitor lease-related expenditures and capture key financial metrics.
• Act as main contact for financial reporting with other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
