Job summary

Financial Additions is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage month-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliations for oil and gas operations. This role covers revenue, royalties, taxes, OPEX, and capex across multi-entity environments.

The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within oil & gas or energy.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts.
• Support accounting for oil and gas exploration, production, development, and operating activities.
• Perform accounting for oil and gas revenue, royalties, production taxes, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Assist with joint interest billing, joint venture accounting, working interests, and non-operated properties.
• Reconcile production volumes, revenue statements, owner statements, and general ledger balances.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and capital project tracking.
• Support impairment analysis, asset retirement obligations, and other complex oil and gas accounting matters.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Assist with external audits, tax requests, and financial reporting requirements.
• Develop and maintain accounting processes and internal controls to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting and accounting processes.
• Partner with operations, land, revenue, FP&A, treasury, tax, and other cross-functional teams.
• Provide accounting analysis and recommendations to management on complex transactions and business activities.
