Job summary

United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead housing grant financial reporting, general ledger, and audits across multiple funding sources. You will monitor budget performance, ensure compliance with GAAP, and supervise the financial team with hands-on oversight of month-end close and tax reporting.

The ideal candidate has a BA in Accounting, 4+ years of accounting experience (non-profit preferred), strong Excel skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Four or more years of general accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit/grant environment.
• Two+ years of leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Experience with GAAP, strong analytical skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams proficiency.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel and work irregular hours occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Housing Centers and housing grant management and its financial/reporting.
• Monitor actual results vs budget and report to ensure funds aren’t overspent.
• Forecasting current financial position to manage unspent funds and budget compliance.
• Review invoices, travel, time sheets, and coding; ensure policy compliance.
• Coordinate external audits and program monitoring requests.
• Supervise and develop the financial liaison and team.
• Manage general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain cash flow, post receipts, and banking relations.
• Manage leases, rental receivables and payments.
• Perform month-end, earned revenue, salary accrual, fringe entries, close.
• Prepare monthly cost allocation analysis.
• Prepare property tax and other annual reporting, tax returns.
• Assist in annual audited financial statements and internal controls.
• Support Uniform Guidance 2 CFR compliance for not-for-profits.
• Other projects as assigned by CFO/Deputy CFO.
