Job summary

The Town of Wayland is seeking an experienced Assistant Town Manager to provide high-level leadership and broad administrative support across Town government in accordance with the Town Charter and applicable laws. The role involves coordinating departments, managing significant initiatives, and acting as Town Manager in their absence.

Ideal candidates will be strategic, well-organized, and collaborative, with strong communication skills for residents and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or related field.
• At least five years of progressively responsible municipal/public-sector management experience.
• Master’s degree in Public Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides broad administrative and operational support to the Town Manager.
• Leads and coordinates across Town departments and works on Town-wide initiatives.
• Serves as Acting Town Manager in the Town Manager’s absence.

Education
