Job summary

PMA is seeking a Referral Underwriter to lead the development and oversight of loss-sensitive coverage lines, including WC, GL, auto, property, and umbrella. The role collaborates on risk selection, pricing, and guidelines, handling referrals beyond regional authority.

You will drive pricing methodologies, coordinate with QA, and support product development while ensuring timely renewal and program negotiations. Travel to branches is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of multi-line underwriting with large accounts and loss-sensitive portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting mechanics and casualty coverage.
• Knowledge of retrospective rating and large deductible structures.
• Willingness to travel for business.
• CPCU or ARM designation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, promote, train, and coach underwriters on pricing and data input.
• Make underwriting decisions for accounts beyond Regional Manager authority.
• Oversee facultative reinsurance processes and market relationships.
• Maintain renewal activity diaries and coordinate renewal negotiations.
• Coordinate with QA, Product Development, and branch underwriting.
• Provide technical sales support for loss-sensitive products.
