Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a materials buyer/planner to ensure on-time, cost-effective acquisition of raw materials and services for Concord operations.

You will manage end-to-end purchasing, inventory levels, and logistics, coordinating with procurement, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to meet production needs. The role emphasizes GSM processes, ERP tools (PeopleSoft/SAP/MES), and cross-functional collaboration across supplier networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 3+ years experience in a buyer or planning role.
• Experience in manufacturing – operations, planning, quality, engineering, supply chain.
• Experience in inventory management concepts.
• Experience using PeopleSoft, SAP, MES or similar purchasing and inventory tools.
• Experience with GSM processes and buying policies.
• Experience working in a cross-functional team and across multiple levels of the organization, including external suppliers/customers.
• Strong Excel skills, experience setting up planning models with Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and purchase raw materials, packaging, parts, services and supplies for Concord operations.
• Own the end-to-end purchasing and logistics process for DICE fiber and serve as the Free Trade Zone governance rep for fiber movement.
• Use the MRP system to build purchasing plans and production schedules; coordinate with multiple functions to meet customer requirements at the lowest cost.
• Own inventory goals through strategic stocking decisions and resolve material availability for common materials across production lines.
• Support divisional procurement, transportation, supplier management and logistics operations; help deploy GSM strategies.
• Support new product implementation by coordinating materials through final release to manufacturing.
• Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction using Supply Chain and Lean concepts.
